Film Academy Camps

Lights, Camera, Action …

Ever wanted to make your own film? This summer the award-winning Director Patrick Butler, as featured on RTE 2, 2fm, 98fm, Spin fm and TG4, is running a ”make-a-movie” course for Tweens and Teenagers in Artzone Studios, Rathfarnham. This intensive five-day, hands-on, course covers all the elements of film making. Students will write, direct and edit their own short film.

On completion of the course, all students will take home a DVD of the finished film!

As we look to expand the range of art courses available to our students it is tremendous to meet others like Julianne and Digital Film School, who are just as passionate about their art and delivering a high standard of tuition.

No problem Mairead. I will book the Film Making Camp for Eva. Thanks for the feedback – the comic book illustration classes were a huge success. We are running another five weeks for the real enthusiasts! Cheers, Paul

Hi, could you tell me whether the majority of kids taking part in the august film camp will be 10 o 11 yr olds? I have a 13 year old who would like to take part but only if there are other kids in her age group…its a teenage thing!

    • says:

Hi Jeanette, We have a spread between 10 and 15, a number of 13 year olds. It is a relatively expensive camp as we have hired in specialist tutors and equipment. Numbers will be small so everyone gets real hands on experience. Best regards, Paul

  5. Carmela Di Stefano says:

Hello, could I book a place for my two daughters: Sherry (15) and Kamila (11) for week starting 12 August?

  6. AidenC says:

    Hi guys,
Is 9 too young as my son has been making brickmovies (lego) for some 2 months now, watches movies made by kids on youtube and is all a buzz about making his own movie….let me know if joining would inspire him further?

    • says:

Hi Aiden, If he is that into movie making he should be fine in this camp. The camp content has been adapted to suit Tweens as well as Teens – there are some 10 year olds booked in already. 15 is the oldest. You should also consider our Animation Camps/ Classes – they are essentially movie making courses for different forms of animation. Best regards, Paul

  7. Gay O Regan says:

Hi there, is the 8-12th August the only week you are running this?

    • says:

Hi Terre, There is only one week of film camp. It is the most expensive camp to run so we need to be sure to fill it. Regards, Paul

Hi Paula, We are expanding our Academy Camps into more areas each year. The Film is a difficult one because of all the equipment but we will probably run it in The Red Stables Art Centre next year. Regards, Paul

  11. Michele Corvin says:

    Dear Artzone ,
Have you two places left on your August filmmaking course ? Michele

  12. ISABEL says:

Hi there, Are there still places available for the Film camp? How could I book a place for my son Oscar, who is 12?

  13. says:

Hi Deborah, The Film Camp is a really good introduction to Film Making where each student plays a role through every stage of scripting, shooting and editing a high quality short film. We don’t get involved in arranging accommodation/ host families but otherwise we would be happy to have Carlota join the camps. Comic Book Illustration or Animation Academy Camps the following week are also excellent programmes. Regards, Paul
