Child Safeguarding Statement

1. Name of Service being Provided: Artzone

2. Nature of Service and Principles to Safeguard Children from Harm:

Artzone is a Private Art School run by fully qualified Art Teachers, working to a structured Visual Arts Curriculum for Primary & Secondary School Children and Adults. Artzone has classes in schools and after school for children and is also run in public venues for children, teenagers and adults. Artzone run Camps for Primary & Secondary School Children during school midterm
break and summer holidays in well-established public venues. Artzone also organise and run children’s parties for various occasions in their studios in Rathfarnham and in individual’s homes.
Artzone believes that the best interests of children and young people attending our classes and camps and parties are paramount. We are committed to upholding the rights of every child and young person who attends our classes, camps and parties. Including the rights to be kept safe and protected from harm, and to be listened to and heard. Our guiding principles apply to all paid staff and students on work placement within Artzone. All staff and students on work placement must sign up to and abide by these principles and our child safeguarding procedures.

3. Risk Assessment:

We have carried out an assessment for any potential harm to a child while availing of our services. Below is a list of the areas of risks identified and the procedures for managing them.

4. Procedures:

Our Child Safeguarding Statement has been developed in line with requirements under the
Children First Act 2015, the Children First: National Guidance, and Tusla’s Child Safeguarding: A Guide
for Policy Procedure and Practice. In addition to the procedures listed in our risk assessment, the

service:

  • Procedure for the management of allegations of abuse or misconduct against staff and students on
    work placement of a child availing of our services.
  • Procedures for the safe recruitment of staff and students on work placement to work with children.
  • Procedure for provision of and access to child safeguarding training and information, including the identification of the occurrence of harm.
  • Procedure for the reporting of child protection or welfare concerns to Tusla.
  • Procedure for maintaining a list of the persons (if any) in the relevant service who are mandated.
  • Procedure for appointing a relevant person.

5. Implementation:

We recognise that implementation is an ongoing process. Our service is committed to the implementation of this Child Safeguarding Statement and the procedures that support our intention to keep children safe from harm while availing of our service. This Child Safeguarding Statement will be reviewed on 1st of June 2020, or as soon as practicable after there has been any material change in any matter to which the statement refers
